Muscle Activation During Weighted Dips

When you do weighted dips, your body uses several important muscles.

The main one is called the pectoralis major, which is a big muscle in your chest. It helps you lower yourself down and push back up.

Your triceps, found at the back of your upper arms, also do a lot of work. They help straighten your arms as you push up from the bottom of the dip.

Your shoulders, or deltoids, are important too. They help stabilize your shoulder joints so you can stay balanced during the exercise.

They also help with lowering yourself down and pushing back up.

Another muscle, called the serratus anterior, helps with stability too. It's located near your ribs and helps keep your shoulder blades in place during the dip.

Your core muscles also play a big role in keeping you stable during weighted dips. These include muscles in your stomach, sides, and lower back.

Finally, muscles in your upper back work to keep your shoulder blades in the right position, which helps prevent shoulder injuries.
